Open Farm Sunday, managed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), is one of the farming industry’s biggest success stories. Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006, over 1000 farmers across the UK have opened their gates and welcomed people onto their farm for one Sunday each year. It is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first hand what it means to be a farmer and the fabulous work they do producing our food and managing the countryside.
It is a Free event, for the local community to take time to listen to the birds, soak up the scenery, experience the smells of the farmyard and really get in touch with the land that feeds us.
We are opening up Heath Farm with tractor and trailer rides to fields, meet and feed the animals, talking about how we work with the environment, lots of interactive activertys ect. We are very proud of what we have achieved and want to be able to let the local community enjoy our animals and see what is reared and grown on their door step.We are so looking forward to our Open Farm Sunday Event on June 11th. We have decided to have our service/celebration of life/remembrance in the afternoon for our very special “forever flock” so everyone can meet these very special lambs, we felt it would be the perfect day. (Katies field of Hope.) It is a free event but any kind donations will be for Cancer Research UK which is so close to our hearts at Heath Farm and many many others. A fun filled day is installed, we are Linking Environment & Farming, come see how a working livestock farm is run, shearing demonstrations, kids activity corner, spinners & Weavers, Morris Dancers, meet and feed the animals, Conservation farming, West Suffolk Bee Keepers Association, BBQ, Our Pop Up Shop and more.
